PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
We will be sharing the basic principles of self love and self care and how they are deeply interwoven with community care.
We will be working from my book Badass Bonita and Audre Lorde and bell hooks’ work: two revolutionary Black queer authors and advocates.
Self care and self love are essential during these times. It is important to practice both and important to know the difference. Both are imperative to how we show up and care for our community. This is the only way forward. This is how we will build, organize, and heal as a collective. We need to learn to show up for ourselves and for our community in effective and consistent ways.
During these times especially, self love and self care will allow participants to be self aware, set boundaries, prevent burnout, attune to their purpose, enhance confidence, increase self regulation, and allow them to show up in a more present manner for themselves, their clients, and their community. This will in turn create a more solid sense of self, connectedness, and foster a more sustainable work-life balance.
This session will invite participants to reflect on ways in which they intentionally care for themselves, love themselves, and their community. We will leave with a renewed sense of clarity, commitment, and purpose. This will support therapists as individuals, provide them with tools to support their clients, and connect us as a collective.
