CAUSE

The Latine community faces significant mental health disparities, often exacerbated by a lack of culturally humble and linguistically proficient care. To address this urgent need, our training program is dedicated to equipping community health workers and mental health professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively serve Latine clients.

Research consistently highlights the scarcity of robust bilingual and multicultural training programs, leaving many bilingual professionals feeling ill-equipped to provide adequate services. Our program directly confronts this gap by offering comprehensive training that integrates:

  • Cultural Humility Deepening understanding of the diverse cultural values, beliefs, and experiences within the Latine community.

  • Linguistic Proficiency: Developing advanced Spanish language skills for clinical practice, including specialized terminology and culturally nuanced communication styles.

  • Evidence-Based Practices: Adapting and applying evidence-based therapies to meet the unique needs of Latine clients.

By empowering community health workers and mental health professionals with these essential competencies, we aim to improve the well-being of Latine individuals and families and contribute to a more equitable and just mental health system.
